Well, the 93rd Gogebic County Fair is in the planning stages. The Fair Board is currently working on putting this years fair together and in January, several board members traveled to the WI Association of Fairs Convention in the Wisconsin Dells to look at a variety of entertainment.
Each year the board works hard to find new and exciting entertainment and of course, keep the traditions alive with Harness Racing and other long standing events.
Did you love the fair last year? Things you would like to see? Things you didn't care for? We know it's not easy pleasing everyone, but we do try to please as many as we can. With help from the public, we feel that the fair can only get better. Please take a moment to fill out the online survey or email us and make a suggestion or comment, good or bad. The fair board will use this information to make changes for next year. Help your Gogebic County Fair be the best that it can be!
The Fair Board would like to say THANK YOU to our sponsor "ROCKAUTO.COM" Rock Auto has steped up in a big way and helped out the fair!
Check out ROCKAUTO.COM for all of your automotive needs! Click on their logo (on the right)
The Friends of the Fair once again will be selling 50/50 tickets at the upcoming fair. Tickets will be on sale and can be purchased from Abelman Clothing of Bessemer, MI or Auvinen Service Center in Ironwood.
Make sure you buy your tickets early and often, the more that is raised, the more you can make! This is a great opportunity to support the fair and perhaps yourself!
Drawing will be held on Sunday Night
in the Grandstand
Last year, the white little fair office building on the top of the hill is no longer the Secretary's office. The Fair Board has decided to move the office to the former CVB office in the Multi -Purpose building on the west end of the fairgrounds. The former office is now the "Turn 2 Saloon" a beer booth run by the Friends of the Fair group.
Our 2013 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD winners: Youth Volunteer(s) were D'Kota Engler & Sarah Rand, the Adult Volunteer was Scott Suvanto and the Business Volunteer of the Year was Snow Country Enterprizes of Ironwood. Congratulations to all of you, and Thank You to everyone who volunteered, donated and participated in the 2013 Gogebic County Fair.
The "Turn 2 Saloon" is a fundraiser for the fair. All profit from the booth during the fair is donated back to the fair. To access the "new" fair office by vehicle, enter the grounds at the west gate (across from the Cedar's Motel) and you can't miss it. It will be the first big beige building that you see!
Stop down and get your Season tickets or register your entries with Tina who is now working from the new office. You can call her at 906-932-2700
