Well, the 93rd Gogebic County Fair is closer than you think. The fair board is still working hard to get everything ready for the yearly event. Starting on July 8th, fair secretary Tina Romosz will be working at the fairgrounds in the Multi Purpose Building on the west end of the grounds. Register your entries, pick up your Season Pass or just get some information. Tina can be reached by phone at (906) 932-2700.

Fair board members have partnered with Friends of the Fair with cash and hard work to tackle fairground improvements. There have been huge improvements over the last few years. Friends of the Fair have a 50/50 raffle and facilitate the Snowmobile olympus to raise money for these improvements. So far they have installed (5) new doors on the barns, new concrete flooring in the pavilion, new handicap ramp and rail at the Fair office entrance, new timer for the Horse Department, cash support for Market animal Club improvements, much needed brick reinforcement and windows on the south end of the cattle barn, reconstructing a safer stage at the grandstand, track infield drainage and parking lot improvements.
Last year, the white little fair office building on the top of the hill is no longer the Secretary's office. The Fair Board has decided to move the office to the former CVB office in the Multi -Purpose building on the west end of the fairgrounds. The former office is now the "Turn 2 Saloon" a beer booth run by the Friends of the Fair group.
